I’m on Etsy!

Great news, guys and gals!

You can now check out my designs on Etsy!

My shop opened on November 14 and I’ll mainly be selling my designs in digital format for you can print and frame them at home for cheap.

Because art is seriously getting too expensive.

I had a ton of fun designing this house portrait in particular:

And I’d love to do more. If you want a custom portrait of your space (home, apartment, college dorm…:) ), feel free to email me: jacqueboatman@me.com or message me on Etsy.

Big things, everyone. Big πŸ˜‰

So I’d been away from www.losttype.com for a month or two and they’ve posted a few new fonts!

It’s seriously like finding the golden ticket πŸ™‚

Aren’t they wonderful? Here’s a few peeks of them in action:

How would you use them?

Climb the Mountains and Get Their Good Tidings

I love Yosemite.

Amazing views, beautiful waterfalls, huge trees, ancient granite peaks.

And March is the best time of year to visit! The weather’s warm, even balmy, in the valley around the middle of March and all of the ice has nearly melted from the lower portion of Yosemite Falls. Lots of deer and coyotes.

Not that I’d want to run into a coyote.

We had a few hours in the park before dinner at the Ahwahnee Dining Room, so we “hiked” to Bridalveil Falls, Lower Yosemite Falls, the Meadow Loop, Visitor Center and finally the Ahwahnee Hotel.

Notice the quotations aroundΒ hiked. These trails are so impeccable, level and paved that I feel a little embarrassed to consider them “hiking trails”. More like a nice, long walk. We even ran into a member of the hard-working Trail Crew clearing the paved paths of leaves and loose gravel. Crazy!

We had Coach with us and he had a blast! We wore him out and he slept in the car through dinner. Have you seen the dining room before? Beautiful!

I had the chicken, JBoat had prime rib. And we split a caesar salad, an endive and blue cheese salad, a French onion soup (made with vegetable broth – major score!) and a cheese cake.

I feel gross admitting that. But I definitely walked enough to cover it πŸ˜‰

Such a great day. I hope we can get back soon to check out Mirror Lake and Happy Isles!

Here’s the latest print, by the way. Again, click and print at 100% for 5x3in! Enjoy πŸ™‚

I Really Do Believe

I got a new computer!

I’m so excited.

I had a 2008 MacBook Pro. 15 inches. It was a great machine. Until it started to glitch.

Like, the screen would malfunction and the machine would Kernel Panic. About twice an hour.

It’s really difficult to design anything when your computer previews all whites as blues. Ugh.

So my new computer is like a sunny day after a year of terrible weather. Yes. I am that cheap. I waited an entire year and lost lots of work in the process. But that’s all over now and I can see clearly now the rain is gone!

And a new computer calls for a new desktop background. Duh!

This desktop background (obviously) features the Submarines design I posted earlier. It is another free download and is 2880 pixels wide by 1800 pixels tall – enjoy!

Do you like the Lumineers?

Wait. Rephrase.

Who doesn’t like the Lumineers!

The extreme popularity of the band’s single, “Ho, Hey” (and, in my opinion, an awesome performance on Saturday Night Live πŸ™‚ ) helped propel the Lumineers into mainstream music. And I’m so glad – their self-titled album is my current fave. I listen to it on the way to work, while I’m running errands, while I’m making dinner…my Spotify membership is showing it’s true value!

When I listen to the Lumineers, I can’t help but picture designs inspired by their lyrics. Here’s one for you πŸ™‚ As always, it’s free to download! Simply click on the image below to print the full size (8 in x 5in). And yes, I added a word. “In”. It was just starting to bother me that there was no “in”. So I added it.

But it’s free. So no hard feelings, right? πŸ˜‰

Back With a Bang

I’m tired. Super tired. My head hurts. I want to go on a road trip.

Now that I’m done whining.

I finished the next two installments of my California prints. All of the images are mine, btws πŸ™‚ Here they are

Mt. Tamalpais – a beautiful spot in Marin overlooking Dillion’s Beach and the bay. Not far from Muir Woods. Like, I think they boarder one another. Lots of redwoods and trails and primitive camping. I love camping. But I also like showers. So…we usually don’t stay here. But it’s an incredible place to visit if you’re near Mill Valley. And there’s a waterfall somewhere. We haven’t found it yet, but I look forward to exploring for it in the future πŸ™‚

Tomales Point – Have you ever been to Point Reyes Station? This is so close to Point Reyes that you can’t not visit here, too. And while you’re at it, don’t miss Hog Island Oysters, Tomales Bay State Park (amazing views and some tiny jelly fish washed up on the sand) and the Tomales Point Elk Reserve, where a large herd of Tule Elk are protected. To get there, you’ll have to take the trail from Point Reyes National Seashore. The drive is beautiful and winds through century-old creameries and pastures. There’s a historic creamery to tour-ish (not really a tour but more like a walk-though of the still standing buildings), and then the trail. Beautiful with ocean views on both sides!

I love California. Northern California.

Happy New Year

Hey there, 2013.

You’re lookin’ mighty fresh.

If I compliment you enough, will you be good to me?

Pretty please?

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?

Besides the usual get fit, eat healthy, be happy…?

Anything you hope to wrestle out of 2013?

I personally want to design for fun more. Like, if a quote inspires me, I want to design something based around it. Or if I’m offered a freelancing job, I want to take it.

And if I want to go somewhere. I’m going, dang it.

I don’t mean I’ll hop on a plane and fly to sunny Hawaii for the winter. I mean, if I want to go to Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park for a day, I’m going.

I tried to get up there 3 times this fall and never made it. Fail. No more of that.

I’m going to start taking myself less seriously.

For example, I put off posting here because I wanted the site to be perfect before I started writing.

This site will probably never be perfect.

No offense, Garrett and Justin πŸ˜‰

There will always be something that needs to change. I can’t use that as an excuse.

I spent too much of 2012 second guessing myself. Here’s to taking chances and taking charge.

Β So, one of my goals of 2013 is to design a series of prints representing my favorite places in California. With my own pictures. Here are the first 3. I told you I was taking charge! πŸ™‚
What are you driven to accomplish this year?

Festivous Facebooks

We decorate our homes for the holidays, right?

So why not our Facebooks? (I mean, we spendΒ hours on them anyway ;))

^ My little sister. Isn’t she beautiful?

Here are a few cover photo options for you to use this Christmas!

Feel free to drag these to your desktop, then upload your favorite to your Facebook profile as your cover photo.
